How to set up Microsoft Outlook Express Newsreader
We recommend using MS Outlook Express as it uudecodes uuencoded postings
(though it doesn't appear to decode yEnc
yet). Please make sure you have Microsoft Outlook Express installed.
The following instructions should work with any version of Microsoft
Outlook. To obtain a copy of Outlook Express contact www.microsoft.com/ie/
STEP 1: Open MS Outlook Express.
STEP 2: Open the tools menu on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
STEP 3: Select accounts.
STEP 4: Select the news tab
STEP 5: Select news from the add menu on right side of the pop-up
menu.
STEP 6: Follow the instructions in the connection wizard.
STEP 7: Enter the server in the "News (NNTP) Server"
promt. EX: NEWS.My-Binaries.com. Also check mark the "My
news server requires me to log on" box.
STEP 8: This should take you to the end of the wizard, unless you
had any error messages. So all you have to do now is click finish.
STEP 9: Double click on NEWS.My-Binaries.com (or whatever server
you put in Step 8)
STEP 10: Click on the servers menu and check the checkbox that
states this server requires me to log on, then HAND-TYPE-IN your
username and password (do not copy/paste). After that, click apply
and ok.
STEP 11: Click close to close the accounts window.
STEP 12: After you close the internet accounts box an alert box
will appear on the screen and ask you if you would like to download
the news groups you just added. Click the yes box.
That's it! Now you're on your way to reading and posting to usenet
newsgroups.
